ANTI-PORN STRATEGY FOR YOUR HOME

Just installing a filter such as SafeEyes or Cybersitter alone is not enough to protect your family.  All filtering systems can be gotten around in one way or another, and a determined person will find a way around them.

You must use a multi-pronged spear to totally kill the threat of porn attacking your family.  This strategy is not only designed to filter and monitor the access to porn but also to remove possible temptation.

FILTER & MONITOR ACCESS

1.  Designate an ANTI-PORN ADMINISTRATOR in your family.  This should be someone who does not have a problem with the temptation of porn; someone who never looks at porn.  Have the anti-porn administrator set up the filtering and accountability software and KEEP THE PASSWORDS unknown to the rest of the family.

2.  Install FILTERING SOFTWARE.  Filtering software will virtually eliminate any accidental exposure.  For maximum content blocking on a single PC I recommend Cybersitter.  For excellent content blocking on multiple PC's, or to be able to monitor from any computer over the Internet I recommend SafeEyes.

3.  Install ACCOUNTABILITY SOFTWARE.  They monitor Internet usage and record a list of web sites visited.  The list can be viewed by the anti-porn administrator, spouse and/or parents as the case may be.  An excellent product that is also FREE can be found at www.covenanteyes.com.

4.  Set up your COMPUTER IN A PUBLIC AREA of the house where the screen can easily be seen by anyone passing by.  Do not allow the door to that room to be shut while the internet is being accessed.

ELIMINATE TEMPTATION

1.  EDUCATE your family on the dangers of porn.  Why should porn even be blocked?  What is wrong with it?  How is it hurting anyone?  Isn't it my own business if I look at porn or not?  LEARN TO HATE PORN!  Porn is after the destruction of your family!  Click here for links to some web sites that provide answers.

2.  PRAY for such an awareness of God's awesome love and presence, that any temptation to do something that might break that connection will be minimized or eliminated.

3.  GET EMOTIONAL HEALING!  Pray for God's love to heal you of all past hurt, pain, guilt and shame.  This can be a long term, emotionally painful and draining process, but the fruit is wonderful.

4.  Ask another person to hold you ACCOUNTABLE by asking you regularly (weekly or monthly) if you have looked at pornography.  The person could be your parents (if you are a child living at home), your spouse, and/or your pastor.  There can be no victory in darkness.  It must be brought out into the light to be dealt with successfully.

5.  LEARN TO LOVE BOUNDARIES, and not view them as boundaries at all, but as what they really are - a force field of defense against the horrific onslaught of your soul.
